How would you handle this situation? I have my first article coming out soon (Dec/Jan) in academic volume, a very detailed and long paper, I put so much work into it, sent the first proofs corrections in July, no acknowledgment from publisher, saw my editor at #sblaar25, he’s had no response either.

Went to an interesting talk this morning at ICHL on a new phylogenetic analysis of the Semitic language family with some surprising results. Best fit with the model (calibrated with known dates for attested varieties) is 3430-2380 BCE for Proto-Semitic. A bit later than I would have expected.

Iranists: I'm making my way through Kreyenbroek's magisterial Early Zoroastrianism and Orality. I confess though I am skeptical about his translation and interpretation of Yt. 13.22 which he makes refer to resurrection. Does this reading have antecedents in scholarship? #avestan

My copy of Charles E. Hill’s The Johannine Corpus in the Early Church (Oxford, 2004) came from the personal library of #annerice. She considered Hill’s book as “full of real data” and the pages have quite a few of her notes.

Interesting article on how Egyptian Sngr and Hebrew Šīnʿār (derived from the name of a Kassite people) became general exonyms for Babylonia. Might reflect diplomatic relations w/ the Samḫarû in the Hyksos period & subsequent Kassite rule of Babylon during the N.K.?

When I was 13 in an age before the internet, I tried to write my own commentary on Genesis in a composition book. I had no resources essentially, I knew little, & I believed the Flood happened and Abraham was a real person, but that didn't stop me from trying to imagine what was behind the text. 1/2

Almost exactly a year ago, my phone sent me an alert that a major quake was imminent. Tho I wasn't in Japan, the early warning app I use was set to my last location there. The reports then poured in minutes later of what those in Ishikawa-ken had endured. My thoughts tonight rest on Noto's recovery.
