I am reminded tonight how important it is for women to be inspired by other brave, pioneering women as I watch dozens and dozens of women post gift links to Jane Goodall obituaries and articles

This is pretty incredible
Genetic material shed by tumors can be detected in the bloodstream three years before cancer diagnosis, according to a study led by investigators at Johns Hopkins University.

That study was made possible with federal funding. Now, many studies like this are canceled. hub.jhu.edu/2025/06/04/...
Cancers can be detected in bloodstream three years prior to diagnosis
Detection of cancer before a clinical diagnosis could give patients and caregivers more time for intervention and may lead to better outcomes because tumors are more likely to be curable

Wonderful thread. Be ready with a freshly made hot pot of coffee (hot freshly made pot of coffee?) if you decide to read to the end.
Been seven years since I first read this, on the English language's *completely universal but totally invisible* adjective hierarchy, and I can honestly say I've thought about it most days since.

We're rolling out an update shortly to email verification to prevent harassment and trolling from throwaway accounts.

New users may need to verify their account email before they can create a post.

If you’re a Guardian or Observer reader, please share this. The need for a strong, free & independent press couldn’t be greater. Yet, here it is.

A very useful point!
My one constructive criticism on BlueSky, as a community: we need to “like” less and “retweet” more. In the absence of an algorithm, that’s the way we find each other and reward good content.
