Resharing this for #InternationalLesbianDay
For #IWD and #WomensHistoryMonth - the incredible Alison Neilans, who prevented sex between women being criminalised in England and Wales.
It was proposed in 1921, for cynical reasons, but would probably have become law without her prompt and effective response. (1/6)

Scapegoating refugees won’t fix inequality, housing shortages, or a crumbling NHS. Real solutions will.

This is a no-brainer - scrapping the two-child limit is the quickest and simplest way to lift hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty.

We found that scrapping the would also reduce the economic cost of child poverty by £3.2bn a year.

Will selling off community centres, sports clubs & nurseries fix the local authority funding crisis? No.

Will giving more councils the power to borrow in the short-term to fund everyday services fix the local government funding crisis? Also no.

Today we join over 200 orgs to call on Party Leaders to end the divisive politics, racist rhetoric and demonising language of the past.

Only then will they bring unity instead of division and cohesion rather than hate.
