Gallery lures collectors to Spain’s abandoned region with large-scale sculpture trail

The sprawling sculpture trail is the latest initiative by Albarrán Bourdais, a project that is filling Matarraña, the country’s least populated area, with architecture

I often recommend Eurovision to non-Europeans curious about European geopolitics. The contest is historically anything but "an apolitical entertainment show."
🇪🇸 RTVE has been warned by the EBU not to refer to Gaza in their #Eurovision 2025 broadcast, after commentators cited casualty figures during Thursday's semi-final.

The Spanish public broadcaster "may incur punitive fines" if these statements are repeated.

My latest story for The Art Newspaper:
So long, stag parties: Barcelona banks on art to tempt ‘quality’ tourists

Amid a backlash by locals fed up with party-loving visitors, the city’s tourism authority has teamed up with museums to promote a series of exhibitions

Oh, hi new friends! I'm Alexandra, I'm a journalist & aspiring writer based in Paris. I'm currently querying my first novel, a literary fiction set in Northern Spain (think My Brilliant Friend meets My Dark Vanessa). In the meantime, you can read my stories on art & politics in The Art Newspaper.

At this point I've very little faith in UN treaties whose enforceability depends on political will rather than strict legal consequences.

A UN treaty could be the beginning of the end for single-use plastic production—but victory over this pollutant isn’t yet in the bag.

Happy 2025! I haven’t been around here for a while. Here's where I've been instead:

Men are not only missing out on some great literature, they're also limiting their understanding of others. Reading fiction writen by someone who does not look like you is an exercise in empathy. A lot of it has to do with the way "women's fiction" is marketed but still, we can do so much better.
2023 research shows that only 19% of readers of the top 20 bestselling female fiction authors are male. (1/3)

Glad to see that museums & cultural institutions are increasingly open to working with micro and nano influencers. They're often driven by passion for their niche subject and their audiences—though small—are super engaged and loyal.

Influencers: is it time for museums to go all in?
As an advertising agency pays Instagram influencers to promote museums, is it really worth shelling out thousands of dollars for added publicity and to reach new audiences?

I find this unexpectedly heartwarming.
“I felt so off the grid, and it almost went hand in hand, using a camera that wasn’t connected to a phone,” one Gen Z digital camera user said.

Watched the first five minutes of Dune Prophecy and had to stop. As a die-hard fan of the books, this is a big nope. I can barely handle the wave of girlbossification of Greek myth retellings, but I draw the line at the Bene Gesserit.
