My takeaway from every new Epstein revelation is that some powerful people victimized many powerless young women, many more knew, some actively enabled it--and we're still being told that MeToo and accountability for sexual violence have gone too far

American politics makes a lot more sense when you view it like professional wrestling:

They go in front of the audience and beat each other up and hit each other with chairs… and then they go backstage, high five, and hang out.

Most politics isn’t sport - it’s sports entertainment.

It is plenty clear that House Democrats had this up their sleeve to keep some in the GOP, chiefly Nancy Mace, in line on their vote for the discharge petition.

This sure seems like a First Amendment violation on its face.
Hegseth: "We don't need to be a military of beardos anymore. Do you know how many troops claim to be Nordic Pagan? No, suddenly it's become this real fake religious affiliation inside the Pentagon where troops came to be Nordic Pagan so they can grow a beard and nobody challenges them on it."

When you randomly and stupidly use "last person in Trump's ear" power to suggest normalizing 50-year home loans, the leaks start pouring lol
(WSJ) - Fannie Mae watchdogs who were removed from their jobs had been probing if Trump appointee Bill Pulte had improperly obtained mortgage records of key Democratic officials, including New York Attorney General Letitia James, according to people familiar

Democrats caving tonight are almost certainly buying into some possible across the board outrage in December when either:
1. Johnson doesn't hold the vote
2. Republicans torpedo the ACA subsidies

And without considering the the progressives and liberals are going to blame the cavers for that too!

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

More from Passan: “The 23-page indictment against Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz lays out the alleged scheme for the pitchers to intentionally throw balls so bettors could wager on pitches to be balls or strikes. It started, prosecutors say, as early as May 2023 with Clase and later included Ortiz.”
Breaking news per Jeff Passan: “Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz have been indicted by prosecutors in Brooklyn on a host of charges related to a scheme to rig bets on pitches thrown in MLB games. Ortiz was arrested in Boston earlier today. Clase is not currently in custody”

Who gives a shit if gambling platforms were defrauded?
