Got to go to my first manif yesterday. I was just looking for shoes, but this body doesn’t cross picket lines. 💪

This is extremely accurate. Crazy Rich Asians is the perfect plane movie and I will not hear otherwise.

Happy New Year, witches. The veil is thin and I am ready to rock some faces. 🖤⚡️

Almost had to fire someone yesterday.
Staff in other dep’ts getting into fights today.
Huge leak by the board books from the storm blowing sideways.
3 days until I go surprise my mom on her bday trip & almost blew the whole damn thing.

HALLOWEEN HAD BETTER COME THRU

Sitting behind a Tesla with a vanity plate that says ROOMBA and that is… extremely fucking funny to me. Perhaps I am also losing my grip on sanity.

From humble beginnings, my children begin to multiply. I also think the folks who work at the farmstand may be questioning my sanity.

I fear my friend/coworker may have severely underestimated the queer urge to absolutely lay out on Halloween when she asked me to do a coordinated work costume with her. My suggestions were shot down & we’re now doing “the 80s” but y’all she is so unprepared for what’s gonna walk in that door. 😂💄

Does anyone in #libraries have an example of a collection management policy that specifically excludes GenAI? I want to propose it to our board and they find examples convincing.

I just caved and ordered a pressure canner from Kohls for like 70% off and I am about to become insufferable about bartering my canned goods with others.

This week was a pile of hot garbahhhje but hey I finally finished my latest project.

9”x24” finished, crewel wool on traditional groundcloth. (pattern by Avlea Folk Embroidery)

Explain your username:

“à la bibliothèque” means “at the library” in French.

I am French, and also I work at a library.

I started the Xitter account of the same name as an anon account to post on COVID working conditions in mine/other libraries, so “heck” seemed both punny & fitting.
Explain your username:

My last name is Noe. My first name is Matthew.

People have made weird jokes about "Noe" (some haha cringe, some rude and bullying) my entire life.

I thought it was an amusing way to reclaim some of that back in 2008. And despite me not loving "Matt" it is pithier 🤷‍♂️
Explain your username:

It's a line from Parks & Rec one of my fave shows. In that show, Leslie has an ongoing cold war with librarians. She calls them punk-ass book jockeys as she overturned a book cart and flees. I'm a librarian who is punk in spirit if not attire, so, yeah.

Finally got the official word from our Baker & Taylor rep about 15min ago that the company is closing and all staff are being let go. What a freakin’ timeline we are living in. 📚 #skybrarians

Lol went to the closest urgent care that lists xrays as a service and got all the way to the doctor part before they told me they don’t have an xray machine anymore and now I have to go somewhere else tomorrow, so anywayyyy blessed Mabon 🙃
Sprained ankle/possible fracture from a fall last wknd, worked over 8hrs of unpaid OT last week, topped off by a patron who yelled at & then reported me (lol) for not telling off a kid who “used profanity” (aka quietly said “stupid” to their Roblox game) in front of her 4yo. Y’all I am so so tired.

We ordered some of the @amlibraryassoc.bsky.social “Censorship Is So 1984” stickers
& gave them out at a community event on Saturday. A couple teens came up to the desk this afternoon to ask if I had any more (yep!). As they walked off, I heard them mutter “this is so tuff! 😤”

🖤

Just a little guy (and his 4 little friends) I found munchin’ on my kale from the farmstand. He and his buddies were relocated to the bush outside my kitchen window with their own individual pieces of kale for a road snack (this is why I wash my greens 😅🐛)

Got a call this morning from a parent of a new 4th grader wondering about our programs after school.

P: “do you get kids attending usually?”
Me: “well we have btwn 200 & 300 kids every day so there’s usually a good crowd”
P: “I… I’m sorry WHAT? Can you repeat that??”

They’re baaaaack! #skybrarians

The dice were not with me on my first full play-thru of Votes for Women, but what an engaging game! Single player vs. Oppobot took me 2-2.5hrs (first time = having to reference the rules book A LOT). I’ll get you next time, patriarchy!!! Thx, @downtowntbrown.bsky.social & @fortcircle.bsky.social 🫶
