My husband’s current special interest is tracking energy prices so we can ‘download’ it at cheaper times to the storage battery we got as part of our solar panel system. He says it’s cheapest when it’s windy. Why aren’t we talking about this more? People love cheaper energy.
Today marks 25 years of offshore wind power: an initiative that reduced the UK’s spending on imported fuels by up to £30bn.

Without wind power the country would’ve imported & burned over 20 million tonnes of gas over the last 25 years.

Wind works 🌬️ For the climate and the economy.

This is why I’m on my soapbox everyday at work and being loud about AI and academic integrity

“LLMs are poisoning the entire information ecosystem. You can't even necessarily trust that the citations in a published paper are real (or a search engine's descriptions of them).”
Let me tell you a story. Perhaps you can guess where this is going... though it does have a bit of a twist.

I was poking around Google Scholar for publications about the relationship between chatbots and wellness. Oh how useful: a systematic literature review! Let's dig into the findings. 🧵

Fact check:

🛡️Green policy is to stay in NATO and push for internal reforms.

💊The war on drugs has failed; a legalised, regulated and health-based approach is the only viable option.

🟢The fact the Prime Minister is spending time here to bash the Greens proves that we're doing the right thing.

When there’s an article about reading, the author often focuses on the C20th as if they too don’t understand the link between not reading and not feeling represented. Thankfully, @tygertale.bsky.social put this list together

There’s a Rotary Club Santa that comes round the streets in the evenings in our town. Every time they post on the local Facebook page someone comments ‘why do you never come to xx Road?’ and people reply ‘well we know why, don’t we?’. I don’t! I want to know, but also don’t want to get involved…

10/10 to VR Rail in Finland for their website where you can track your train on a map. On a Pendolino train there are three classes - Eko, Ekstra Relaxed (which the 13yo has chosen) and Ekstra Calm (quiet coach at the end). En route to Rovaniemi now, the final stop.
13yo is doing his virtual trip to Finland again. He has worked out the trains and boat needed to get there and is tracking them in real time over the next few days, and if any part of the journey appears on Train Sim World, he’ll do it on there too. He’s currently en route to London from Torquay.

Thanks for everyone who's bid on the #Creatives4Sudan auction so far. In amazing news, we're at 12k. We have TWO DAYS LEFT though. If everyone places lots of little bids, I think we could get to 15k easy. The money is going to Sudanese-run Emergency Response Rooms. 💗🇸🇩 app.galabid.com/creatives4su...

Both the WI and Girl Guiding had been steadfast in their support for trans members and in making sure every child was included. This is forced suppression. Presumably the Alliance Defending Freedom is the coffers behind this, too?

Guides, WI, these seemed to have been organisations that had previously said they welcomed trans women? Is the person in the mouldy castle throwing their money around or something?
