HOW COOL IS THIS? Researchers have developed a DENTAL FLOSS that can DELIVER vaccines THROUGH the gums, a method that could one day offer a NEEDLE-FREE alternative for vaccination. This approach effectively stimulated immunity AND provided FULL protection against a lethal strain of influenza. 🧪🧵⬇️

In terminating hundreds of NIH grants, the Trump administration dumped years of investment down the drain. In my latest @opinion.bloomberg.com column, we analyzed the cancelled projects & talked to scientists to understand just how much the public loses out. It's a lot: tinyurl.com/bdey86su

This is horrible to post, but I may as well post it. We are essentially shutting down research operations in my group, which is focused on treatments for pediatric brain cancer. I’m a well funded investigator, and there’s no choice. Science can’t function without the stability of NIH

Had a great time last night at the #womeninscience dinner here on campus! It was inspiring to hear all the students’ goals and plans for the future. Great panel discussion and amazing turnout! Biggest takeaway for myself: I need to read Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg #academicsky

Elon Musk and his 19-year-olds have now disrupted the approval of medical devices that save lives.

Every member of Congress bears a responsibility to stop this right now.

Every $1 from NIH generates $2.5 in economic impact. Cutting indirects cripples labs, raises healthcare costs & slows medical breakthroughs. We must protect research funding!
