Finally figured out what was making my VS Code crash whenever I used the integrated terminal. Turns out it was the sticky scroll setting. No clue why. More enshittification I guess.

I have not read the original books so I know nothing other than what’s in the movies. But this has always been my head cannon.
James Bond should be like the Dread Pirate Roberts

there have been many James Bonds, there may even be multiple James Bonds existing at the same time without knowledge of the others (it's spycraft after all)

It started when I interviewed 20 Ruby startup founders last year. Gave a keynote (!) at RailsConf. Launched SF Ruby meetup. Now it's coming together: the missing open source (AI, frontend), Ruby startups, Ruby devs. Learning from each other. Building the future. Together. In Ruby. At @sfruby.com

Is destructuring a #React component to get at the props it was passed, to use those values to drive some logic external to the component, frowned upon? Kosher? Feels like that must go against some principle somewhere

LEGO Enterpise-D only means a Voayger model is only a matter of time. Very hyped for when that drops. A SNW-era Enterpise would also be 🔥

The reason the technology does well on tests but fails in the real world is that the tests are bad.

This is why useless managers whose only skill is taking credit for others' work in interviews love AI so much: it's relatable!
AI's capabilities may be exaggerated by flawed tests, according to new study
A study from the Oxford Internet Institute analyzed 445 tests used to evaluate AI models.

I once had a Blizzard coworker (an engineer, not a lead or director) ask during a random conversation why I should get “extra vacation time“ just because I had a baby and to my credit I did not create an HR incident.
Employment lawyer here: the number of male employers who genuinely believe they should be able to sleep with their female employees and pay working mothers less than working fathers is most of them. They genuinely believe that it is an injustice against them that they might face repercussions.

Recently my brother in law explained what gerrymandering was to a coworker and they didn’t believe him because if that were really happening there would be riots in the street
This week I had someone tell me they're not worried about SNAP being cut off because "that's illegal, so it's impossible Trump could do that, so obviously it's just media sensationalism." Another person told me they weren't worried about ICE because "they can't detain you if you're legally here."

I’m still the only person I know who can hear the difference between “RE-act” and “re-ACT”, when naming the JS framework.

Not sure when it happened (not recently but certainly within the past few years?) but I have successfully retrained my brain to reflexively produce y’all for the plural 2nd person pronoun. 💪

All the worrying that trans folks have had since he took office? This is why. This is the first step on a short road that ends with the criminalization of trans existence in the US. It isn't doomsaying. It isn't panic. It's right in front of us.

more so than the em dash, i find my self deeply wary of unordered lists with **bolded first sentences**, especially with nested ordered lists. simply reeks of roboslopping and it's totally ubiquitous in their discharge
