Thirty years ago today, when I was 31, I was diagnosed with AIDS. At that time, my life expectancy was less than a year. I am incredibly fortunate and grateful for the scientific miracle of antiretroviral treatment, and for the activists that fought for these life-saving drugs to be made available.

I have been meaning to post this good news story for a while - two months ago I joined a bunch of other volunteers to sample water from rivers and creeks throughout the Kiewa Valley in Victoria, which was then analysed for #platypus DNA.
