Waste or resource?

Instead of blowing leaves to the curb they are raked almost silently into our dormant veggie garden serving as a soil amendment and cover to keep the topsoil in place. Plus extra browns for our food scraps compost tumbler.

In spring, matted leaves are a decent weed barrier.

How are they going to spend the insanely massive ICE $75 BILLION budget? It’s right here. Bounty of $1,415 per American. Without our immigrant population we aren’t America. #resist

I helped several companies proactively prepare climate risk assessments for CA SB 261 anticipating the January 1 deadline.

Each of them gained some strategic business value from the process. All of them had already suffered climate related impacts to operations and were working on improvements.

Staying in an Earthship home was an enchanting experience. Here’s what I learned, from how to get water in the desert to how they regulate temperature.

Moonrise over Taos, New Mexico. Coyotes begin to call from their game trails through endless sagebrush. The desert chill settles peacefully.

I’m … I’m … I’ve got nothing but respect.
Q: Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?

MAMDANI: I've spoken about--

TRUMP: That's okay. You can just say yes. I don't mind.

What would it take for a voluntary total White House press blackout? It’s all toxic, propaganda, zero substance. What are we even reporting on? What are we reading? There’s important work to do and stories to be told. Just none coming from 1600 Pennsylvania Ave or Air Force One.

What’s this horrifying mess?

The inside of a potentially deadly cutting board.

I love to cook and was dismayed to find that a small cheese board I’ve been using is not solid wood but veneer over cardboard filler already teeming with mold. Right into the garbage. Buyer beware!

Anyone know the grift within the grift with Trump mobile? Specifically the strange emphasis on telehealth and mental health. Is this a giant Medicaid scam wrapped in a gold phone? A further effort to consolidate media influence? Just another dumb product?

Since when did the American spirit become so fragile that men in power are threatened by immigrants “taking jobs”? Jobs performed domestically ARE American jobs. It is modern slavery in overseas supply chains that is the real enemy of the American economy and democracy. Go after that CBP!
Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."

All due respect to Veterans we need a national holiday that honors OBGYNs. And they should be able to board aircraft before million milers and people with small children. Do you have any idea the breadth of expertise and medical prowess they possess? I did not. But now I do and they need a holiday.

Why haven’t airline CEOs stepped up to fund air traffic controllers during the US government shutdown?

Precedent: We saw private donors funnel money to the military (probably to buy influence for a second coup attempt).

I don’t know why carbon footprint data is celebrated in this b2c context.

- shifts responsibility from company to buyer (similar to recycling label on single use plastic)
- information overwhelm
- price algorithms to fill seats mask true relationship between fuel burn, GHG and ticket price
At Trellis Impact: “Google flights has this feature where it will show you the carbon footprint. I found a win-win. We have this widespread belief that the green premium is still around, but there are more cases that show that isn’t universally true anymore.” - Gavin McCormick of WattTime

What’s the sci comms and climate science community’s take on the Gates memo? Is this a momentous shift we should call “Climategates” or a necessary shift in strategy?

All the real conservatives of my youth who would be outraged by this have gone silent with fear of everything but this kind of irreparable loss.
BLM plans to auction oil & gas leases in the path of Wyoming's iconic wildlife migration corridors, like these 32 parcels totaling >38,000 acres that intersect a 165-mile corridor linking mule deer winter and summer ranges.

Here's a really great, clear explanation from @michael-thomas.bsky.social of what we know about why US electricity prices are rising. (No, it's not data centers, except in some very specific local areas.)
