Hard to overstate the harms of the whitewashed civil rights movement right now, widely taught as essentially passive petitioners of the benevolent state. The movement succeeded only bc it mobilized ppl through a variety of tactics including self-defense & economic warfare *against* the racist state.
The Civil Rights struggle was *very* violent, it's just that the violence was almost entirely one-sided--in keeping with the expectation and comfort of white people. Those who faced down this violence deserve our praise, but if we would honor them, we'd remember that it was a very violent struggle.

I can't imagine looking at this and feeling anything other than nausea and despair. It's an ad for voluntarily surrendering your humanity in exchange for a low-intensity jerkoff machine.
