www.leyf.org.uk/news/can-ref... Just had a largely sleepless night after having my attention drawn to this. A gleeful account of the Reform UK conference by an influential figure in the EY sector and expert in social justice.
Can Reform channel the march of the mums into a movement that can govern?
Musings from the Reform Conference, Birmingham NEC, 5th September On Friday morning, I boarded the train to Birmingham to attend the Reform Conference. Part of our role is to keep track of the wider…

Hello. Just wondering if any other art/play/childhood/materiality/object - based freelancers have problems keeping their (essential) work stuff organised. Sometimes I can’t even begin to think about how to categorise and store it.

Some quick snaps of a lovely afternoon exploring Impressionism with children age 0-5 at The National Gallery yesterday. I am blessed to be able to collaborate with some extraordinary galleries, not just in terms of spaces and collections, but also learning teams who have wonderful approaches.

"Learning through play literally builds brains. It provides children with adult-supported, open-ended activities that construct qualities such as foresight, stamina, mental and physical agility and most importantly, social and linguistic competence and emotional resilience."

Good morning. Are any academics or professionals able to signpost me to credible written analysis of the problematic nature of the word “behaviour” in early childhood education? Many thanks. Photo of lovely tree is shameless attention seeking.

Draft Manifesto:
•Replace “School Readiness” with the term “Child Readiness”, to be applied to schools.
•Ban the media from this debate, that is already plagued by toxic misinformation.
• Gently force everyone to read the actually perfectly reasonable guidelines that already exist.
Toilet training and cutlery use key part of England’s ‘school-readiness skills list’

I 1000% agree about books being essential to early years. I however would take that survey with a lot of salt.

Kindred has 5 trustees. Not one single one has expertise in early years education. They all work in business. I don't know what their angle is but enough red flags to make me question it.

I’ve been doing a little series at my Play Tuesday sessions for the Maritime Museum that are themed around the way that EY children play with the affordances of the building. Last week we did the stairs (slinky’s were involved), this week some mirrors on the wall in the Nelson Gallery.
