To keep the Boom investment narrative alive for a few more years in the light of the nonavailability of an off-the-shelf engine and the assessment by the incumbent engine OEMs that there is no business case for them in developing a bespoke new engine for Overture.

very interesting thing just happened: EWR had a complete ground stop due to “thunderstorms” despite no storms in a 200 mile radius. The only flight to leave from EWR in that window? Air Force One.

sure looks like Donald Trump just shut down EWR for 4 hours so he could watch a soccer game!

Honestly, all these posts blaming the pilots (both "probable cause" type posts and the worse "definitely pilot action" ones) are so testing my patience - especially those from people who are supposed to know better.
Garbage like this was said about the Lion Air and Ethiopian pilots as well.

Ffs! Stop blaming the pilots without evidence. Let the investigation be complete.
Seconds after takeoff, the fuel was cut off to both engines of the Air India flight that crashed last month, investigators said. The focus on the fuel switches has raised questions about the pilots’ actions.

Report details a Special Airworthiness Information Bulletin from 2018 about fuel control switches being installed with the locking feature disengaged on 737s (somehow not deemed "an unsafe condition" warranting an AD), and that it's similar to what's on this 787 but no defect reported on this frame.

AAIB's preliminary report on #AI171 confirms Jon's reporting that the fuel cutoff switches are at play here.

Both engine fuel cutoff switches were moved from RUN to CUTOFF almost immediately after takeoff, within 1 second of each other. CVR captured audio of both pilots denying having touched it.

The CVR exists to tell us what the pilots said in the minutes leading up to an accident. It is clear they identified the problem & denied touching the switches.

I’d like to see a transcript of their exact words following this exchange.

And I want to know what else could affect the switches.
There is a good amount of detail in the 15-page report, but these are the key paragraphs.

I wish AAIB would have published the CVR transcript as well. That one sentence regarding the pilot interaction about the cutoff switch is giving rise to too many ridiculous speculations that the pilot is to blame. The investigation is ongoing and I hope people refrain from assigning blame.

But if the aim is for more people to understand Science, then a torrent of AI nonsense won't achieve it...
