We feel as if the finite energy we have should not be invested into convincing the city to allow us to cultivate locations that FEED people for free with dignity. For this reason, we are looking at new locations and as always striving to launch (or support!) fridges/pantries in all 7 cities.

(should have used "🧵" at this start ... oops) After discussion with 757CF and the host of the Berkley fridge, it has been decided to hold off on re launching that fridge at the same location in Berkley. Ideally, we want to re launch the fridge somewhere else in Berkley.

As some of yall may already know we replaced the Berkley fridge recently due to consistent cooling issues on Sunday, 2/16/25. On 2/18/25 it was given 48 hours to be removed by NFK due to being a "public nuisance". There was a snow storm incoming, so the fridge was removed same day as the notice.

Trying very hard not to be discouraged by this as this issue comes with the territory we are working in, but golly I am sad about this. We won't let this stop us, but its a good lesson to give yourself time to feel and then move forward

The Berkley fridge that was just launched on Sunday has been shut down and removed due to a variable outside of our control. We will post additional details as we get our footing and determine best next steps.

Sewing bee today @ 757 Creative Reuse Center! The bags made will be put out at the fridges to be used in hopes of relying a little less on plastic :)

First coat done on Berkley as fridge was delivered earlier today. Tentative “launch” date will be this upcoming Monday (potentially earlier) once the paint is finished + verified food safe + inside deep cleaned + signs hung

Delivery of replacement fridge to Berkley location has been delayed due to sickness of delivery staff at No Stuff Appliances :( stay tuned for more updates !

Got the fridge secured - delivery will be Monday. This is to replace the current fridge at Berkley - will continue to update :)
