by the way, the reason jackie robinson's legacy is so well-known is because his wife, rachel, made sure that his service to our country (in a multitude of ways) would not be forgotten or diminished after his death. rachel robinson is now 102 years old and still attends jackie robinson day events.

“In 2022, YouGov asked “What percentage of Americans do you think are ___?”

The results were hilarious.

Trans: 21%
Muslim: 27%
Jewish: 30%
Black: 41%
Live in NYC: 30%
Gay or lesbian: 30%

The errors are off by orders of magnitude. The trans estimation by 2,000%.”

This! The Oscars, at their best, serve as an opportunity to spotlight movies that are worth your time to check out! They're (in part) an educational and promotional tool, not just a vindication of your tastes.
Little rant: This is the time of year for anti-Oscar gripes, and the one I like least is "I haven't even heard of these movies!" Folks, that's on you. The 25 or 30 films in the mix have been talked about incessantly in entertainment media since September. Many are in theaters. Many are streaming. >

You should watch FISH STORY (2009), a movie about a Japanese punk band that has one successful single (the titular Fish Story) back in 1975, and how, through a variety of coincidences and circumstances, it will one day save the world from a doomsday asteroid. You never know your impact.
