I've been away from here unintentionally - here's some way of returning with 37610 at the rear of a test train, being held just short of Banbury Depot Junction for empty stock movements that required access to platform 1 this morning.

Chiltern Class 68 + MK3 sets at Souldern Viaduct 29/04/2025, the sunset light was the most sought after one for me, with the ling shadow from the drone shot working perfectly.

Just finished my first shift since the 9th of April - a sudden need for surgery and recovery having sidelined me. But what a sight to return to, served up by the weather! I was quite surprised to learn that the drone camera isn't wide enough to capture the whole thing, didn't think to do a panorama

I've seen bot accounts used for many things but never for promoting Arsenal's "victims of refs" mentality. If you go on Facebook and type "Darren England, the referee at Goodison Park" you'll be presented with verbatim post after verbatim post pushing it, same image too. I gave up counting at 28!!

I think I may have to boycott Morrisons supermarkets. Annoying enough no staffed till, but to have the machine bellow out loud "checking car payment" and then "payment accepted" - I hate to think the dread people struggling must feel at these things. 1/2

Had an evening yesterday chasing the Boogie Lights train at the Severn Valley Railway. Very colourful and great to watch - tricky to photograph, so think I did okay for my first attempt.

Note. Don't feel smug about being early and driving economically to work - especially when they spring a junction closure on you which isn't advertised on the overhead signs but the one that is advertised on the overhead signs is the next one after. Extra 35 miles driven and late for work.

Popped over to Souldern to take a stroll and get some aerials of the No.2 viaduct. I need to see if it's possible to get some of No. 1 without any unwarranted land-trampling, but the northern end of it is very densely vegetated.

First pic Saturday. Second pic today. Signalling both days, firstly Euston and Secondly Marylebone. Today's passengers were moved from being on a 7-car to a 4-car. So much for making an ecological journey to work!!

I missed it at the time, but I have just gone 4 days passed my 10-year anniversary with Chiltern Railways. They are the 2nd longest company I've worked for after the 10yrs 2 months I did until Central Trains franchise ended.

And that's shift 10 out of 12 consecutive done. The weather has really shifted, so wishing everyone a safe day - let's hope the weather isn't too loud so I can get some kip.

When you work outside in the cold, gloves and hat are good but you have one area missing...thank goodness I'm married to a crochet queen!!!
For those who may ask, I'm in and out of trains/buildings frequently so a scarf is a pain to do.
