Ahh love the "we have a gas shortage" stories.

Nope, foreign gas companies just prefer to sell Australia's gas overseas for more profit.

(they also pay bugger all tax, and barely any royalties)

Same here for FB, just to stay in contact with friends in Austria.

It is addictive, I agree, but not all bad... I think its at least better than FB and that does not mean much!
