Viime vuonna Venäjän federaatiobudjetin sotilasmenot olivat yli 7 % BKT:sta, kun vuonna 2021 osuus oli 3,6 %.
Lisäksi sotaan liittyviä menoja katetaan aluebudjettien, budjetin ulkopuolisten rahastojen ja pankkisektorin kautta. Todelliset sotaan liittyvät menot ovatkin SIPRIn lukua suuremmat.
